I think this drawing was based on the excavations of Kidd and part of Jury's. Although it is interesting that there is nothing this side (west) of the ditch running left to right. In the Shrine there are numerous depictions of Ste. Marie as the archaeological work progressed. I feel the most accurate is that of Fr. Hegarty who continued the excavations for 10 more years after Jury had left. His findings are quite interesting indeed, including a grave feature he concluded being the grave of Lalemant. His theory was that Brebeuf and Lalemant were buried separately at first in different buildings then their flesh remains were interred in the same grave when the mission was abandoned in May 1649.
