Cahiague quotation from Champlain

When I first read this quote I assumed that it gave us a confirmed distance to the site of the Narrows at Atherley (Orillia Hwy 12 bridge). Others however seem to think that the 3 league distance mentioned refers to the distance to the small lake, not the Narrows specifically. They will argue that the distance to the Narrows is not specified.
The interpretation of this statement is of paramount importance when searching for the location of Cahiague.
As the text of Champlain that is quoted was written in old French perhaps a review of the translation would be appropriate.
