Staff and students from the 2011 Laurentian University archaeology field school will be joining us for our June 9th chapter meeting.
Huronia Chapter of the Ontario Archaeological Society monthly meeting starts at 7 PM at the Huronia Museum in Midland, Ontario.
Speaker Catherine Sutton of York University speaking on the work done by Dr. C.J. Tache in Huronia in the mid 1800s.
Tache is reported to have dug 16 ossuaries (ref F Parkman - Jesuits in North America 1893) and sent the remains to Laval University in Quebec.
Three of our chapter members are involved in the field school; Professor Alicia Hawkins, Teaching Assistant Kristin Thor and Robert Browne our past secretary from Orillia.
