We encourage the practice of ethical archaeology in the discovery of the history of Huronia (northern Simcoe County) through archaeological research and discussion of the historic record and oral tradition. Please feel free to comment and or join and post on the blog. Blog contents do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Ontario Archaeological Society or the Huronia chapter.

Tay township development.
We have been notified by Tay township of a pending draft plan approval for development on lots 15 & 16, Con 5 & 6, Tay.
I have no record of any archaeological sites on the noted lots but since it is shoreline property there may have been sites lost at the time this area was first developed by the marine and railway industries.
If you area aware of any archaeological site that may be directly impacted by this development please advise.

AGM
Hi All;
It's time to try another attempt at holding our 2014 AGM.
Our next regularly scheduled meeting date is 7PM Wednesday February 12th at the
Huronia museum, Midland.
As you are aware, the AGM involves the election of our
executive and only current Huronia chapter members are eligible to vote or be
voted for. The 2013 executive are willing to stand for election again and new
nominations are always welcome at the meeting.
Since most memberships expired December 31st 2013 it is
important that those wishing to vote or stand for election ensure that their
membership in both the OAS and the chapter are valid for 2014.
I have included the OAS membership page in this email and as
you will note, you can either print, complete and mail the form or just
complete it and make payment online. Don't forget to include your chapter
membership when completing this process. Please note that you can also obtain
or renew your membership at the meeting assuming that you are prepared with
cash or a cheque book.
Looking forward to seeing you there;
John
