 Chapter meeting dates for  2019


January 9th - 7 p.m. at the Thompson Room of the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in Midland, our speaker will be Janet Turner, and her topic will be titled “The Molson Site: A Proto-Historic First Nations Settlement, Barrie, Ontario.


February 27th - 7 p.m. at the Thompson Room of the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in MidlandKarolyn Smardz Frost will speak during Black History Month about early settlement  in Canada by black men and women like those who settled in Oro in Simcoe County.


March 13th - The Metis community and Culture after Discovery Harbour. 
 7 p.m. at the Thompson Room of the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in Midland.


April 10th - Paul Racher will speak about the provincial Housing Supply Action Plan and its potential impact on archaeology in Huronia. 
7 p.m. at the Thompson Room of the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in Midland,

May 1st - Clayton Samuel King will speak as the Heritage and Culture Coordinator for BFN, His presentation will focus on the family/doodem relationships that I have uncovered through his ten years of research. This presentation explored the written clan signatures in Treaties, petitions, requisitions, nominal roles and oral history regarding BFN and the Chippewa Tri -Council.
 7 p.m. in the Assembly room - Midland Public Library.

June 12thDr Alicia Hawkins re What is collaborative research? Working together to investigate Huron Wendat ceramic traditions
Alicia will be doing a field school in Huronia at that time and will be bringing her students to the meeting.
 7 p.m. at the Thompson Room of the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in Midland.


July 10th“Flesh Reborn” by Dr. Jean-François Lozier -“By foregrounding Indigenous mission settlements of the Saint Lawrence valley, Flesh Reborn challenges conventional histories of New France and early Canada.”
 7 p.m. at the Thompson Room of the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in Midland.

August 14th   

September 11th  - Jim Shropshire will be presenting on his work at Ste. Marie among the Huron. details to follow.

November 13th 

December 11th usually reserved for AGM and Social.
